Kaya's Shrimp Rasta Pasta
Them first time I had this I was in Brooklyn New York. I went to a restaurant called footprints. I was completely hooked!
I live in Atlanta so I cant get it as quickly as I used to. It was so good I had to recreate it myself! I hope you enjoy this dish like my husband and I did.
The bet part of this dish is that you will have enough for the next day! Winning!
What you will need
Box of pasta
2 tbs Pinch uv sass blackened jerk spices ( link for spices are below recipe)
1 teaspoon pinch uv sass Kayas staple seasoning
2 tbs of pinch uv sass cajun spice
2 tbs unsalted butter
1 pound shrimp cleaned
4 green onion
1 yellow onion diced
16 ounces heavy cream
1 block shredded Parmesan cheese
1 red bell pepper
1 green pepper
1 teaspoon grated ginger
2 teaspoon flour
Lets cook!
peel and clean your shrimp, season it with my blackened spices add a pinch of extra virgin olive oil. mix well set aside.
Prepare pasta according to package directions, under cook by 2 -3 minutes. reserve half cup of boiled pasta water.
Add coconut oil to heavy bottom pot, saute the other half of the white onion. add cut peppers, garlic and green onion, and ginger. Once soft, remove from pot add shrimp saute for 3 minutes. Add drained pasta, add 2-3 big spoons of reserved pasta water to pot.
Begin making a roux. add butter, melt it until brown and fragrant of a nutty aroma… add half an onion add flour mix well. cook for about 2-3 minutes on low.
once the flour is cooked, add heavy cream. hen the heavy cream is warm turn the heat on low add cheese. mix constantly . add cheese in batches. once you r cheese is melted, season with pinch uv sass cajun spice. season to taste.
Once the cheese sauce is done add it to the pasta mix well. serve and enjoy!
